Yes, that is my beloved "Charlie," my Ford Explorer being towed away in the snow. My thermostat housing was completely shot, everything was frozen, lines cracked, so I had to have it towed to the auto repair shop. Have you EVER?! I never. My neighbor brought over this sweet potato today... yes, it's a sweet potato. I've never seen one quite this big before. I thought since one of my goals for 2013 was to bust through this plateau I've hit since my gastric sleeve surgery almost 15 months ago, I would share my progress thus far. The BEFORE photo was taken the morning of my surgery, August 26, 2011, weighing in at 286 lbs. The AFTER photo was taken approximately 1 year later after an 81 lb. weight loss. We had a very simple New Year's Eve night home with the kiddos.. the usual! We always try to bring in the new year together .. minus our oldest daughter, who stayed at her friend's house, and our son and DIL who went out for the night. My granddaughters celebrated the new year with us, and spent the night. They loved the toasting part! In all the excitement, I forgot to take photos... only got a few to share. Some of you know that I had Gastric Sleeve surgery at the end of August last year. Well, as of my follow up with my doctor today.. I am down by 81 lbs! I had a total of 121 lbs to lose.. and only have 40 more to go! YAY me! It has NOT always been easy, but I am learning a new way of eating, portion control, and more. My granddaughters are what some would call "Irish Twins." They were born exactly 11 months apart to the day... March 28th and April 28th. We celebrated their birthdays this past Saturday with a Luau themed party! The youngest (on the right) is now 4 and the oldest just turned 5 last week. People ask all the time if they're twins... if it wasn't for their height difference (and the different hair styles that day), they could very easily pass for twins. … [Read more...]

These are photos I took this summer (forgot I had them) of a "runaway" hot air balloon that made an emergency landing in the apartment complex down the street from us. The hubby, the kids, and I all jumped in the truck and followed it to see where it would end up. The people in the balloon were just as surprised as everyone that gathered to watch them land.
